Creating Content In MindTouch

Please review how content is structured in MindTouch.  The LightSpeed Framework automatically relates articles and templates can be created and leveraged throughout the site.

The hierarchy is: Category > Guide > Topic > Article

Create a Category and start building your content

  • Name your category then drag and drop an image into the image box.

  • Each category is pre-build with 3 MindTouch Guide Templates and Knowledge Base template.  These can be easily modified to match your requirements.

Select the Administrator User Guide

  • Hover over the title, click edit and modify the title.

  • This will provide a shell to  build out content in the user guide.
  • Other guides can be renamed, hidden, deleted and other links can be surfaced here.

Create a new Topic Article

  • A Topic Article generated through the "Add New Topic" will dynamically associate itself to the parent guide.

  • Add content to your Topic.
    • Edit Page with wysiwyg or directly through source.

  • Insert images anywhere within your documentation (drag and drop or through the wysiwyg).
  • Add Videos to the topic article (video button in wysiwyg).

  • Save the page.
  • Since this page was created as a Topic under the New User Guide is will surface under the Guide Contents section.

Create a "How-To" Article

  • A "How To" article needs to be created through the "New Page" selector in the control bar.

  • Select the "How-To" template.

  • Add content to your How-To article.
    • Edit Page with wysiwyg or directly through source.
  • Save the page.
  • Because the page was created as a child of the User Guide it will surface under the How-To section.

  • If the "Reference" template was selected when creating the page instead of "How-To" this article would surface under the Reference section of the user guide.

Determine who can view the Guide by Restricting Access

  • Permissions can be applied to child pages.
  • Child pages will inherit the parent permissions.

Adding Links in a Category

  • Select the desired template from the template dialog box, create and save the page.
  • From the Category level, select add new guide link.

  • Find the appropriate article.

  • Once selected a link to this article will be surfaced in the category.
