What is the sign-in Touchpoint?
The sign-in Touchpoint is an easily embedded integration through which users can log into your MindTouch site to access product documentation from any of your web properties or applications.
When should I use a sign-in Touchpoint?
Sign-in Touchpoints can be added to any of your web properties, but are most useful in conjunction with other Touchpoints when authentication is required, such as with the search, search-in-place and customer insights Touchpoints.
Example use case
Let's say you have a search Touchpoint embedded on a product page on your main website, and an anonymous (unauthenticated) user searches for additional information. Search results returned by the search tool are limited to content available to anonymous users. Adding a sign-in Touchpoint, the anonymous user has an opportunity to sign into your MindTouch instance and access additional content because the user's permissions are factored into search results.
How users experience the sign-in Touchpoint
- Anonymous users (users who are not signed into your MindTouch site) encounter the sign-in button to your MindTouch site on your web property or in your application.
- When users click the sign-in button, a new browser window opens and the user is prompted to sign in to your MindTouch site.
- Once signed in, the user is taken to the page you designated during your Touchpoint configuration (by default your homepage).
- On your web property or in your application, the sign-in Touchpoint automatically updates to show that the user is now signed in.
