Contextual help button Touchpoint

The contextual help button Touchpoint is an easily embedded integration that provides a contextual help button in your web properties and applications. Users can use this Touchpoint to access your authoritative MindTouch product documentation or help content anywhere, anytime.

Currently, contextual help buttons cannot be branded. If you want to use custom styled buttons, we recommend using the contextual help Touchpoint instead.

How users experience the contextual help button Touchpoint

  1. Users on your site or in your product have a question can see and click a contextual help button.

  2. An interactive pop-up window displays the page you designated during setup and users have the option to browse further:
  • Back.  Displays the page that previously viewed in the contextual help dialog.
  • Forward.  Displays the next page viewed in the contextual help dialog.
  • Home.  Takes users to the home page of your MindTouch site.
  • Open article.  Opens the current article inside your MindTouch site in a new tab or window.
  • The search bar allows users to search your MindTouch site for additional content.

Conditional Content cannot be displayed in a Contextual Help window.

Prerequisites

  • A contextual help button created
  • Basic HTML skills
  • Edit access to the page or application where you want to embed the contextual help button Touchpoint

How to embed the contextual help button Touchpoint

Copy the embed code

Note to user   NOTE:  Skip this step if you already copied the code when you created your contextual help button.

  1. From the Site tools menu on the MindTouch toolbar, select Control panel.
  2. Navigate to System Settings > Integrations > Touchpoints Toolbox.
  3. Scroll down the page to the Currently enabled Touchpoint tools section, find your tool and click Copy code to clipboard.

Embed the contextual help button Touchpoint
  1. Navigate to the page on which you want to embed your contextual help button Touchpoint.
  2. Decide where on the page you want to add the Touchpoint.
  3. If necessary, consult with your product developers to access the HTML of your web application.
  4. Paste the embed code directly into the HTML of your web page or application.
  5. Save your HTML changes.

Do NOT place this code in the head section of your HTML. The code MUST be placed in the body section. 

Test your contextual help button Touchpoint
  1. Open your web page or application.
  2. Click the contextual help button Touchpoint to verify the contextual help dialog loads the appropriate page.
