Content Templates

Create content templates for frequently used text snippets or standardized elements to use throughout your content.

Updates to templates will not apply to preexisting pages. Any future changes to templates will only apply to new pages.

Create a Content Template

  1. From the MindTouch toolbar, select Site tools > Dashboard.
  2. Under Content management, click Template directory.
  3. From the MindTouch toolbar, select New.

For ease of template management, create a blank template named Template:<Your Company Name>under which to create your template groups and templates. In the above list, for example, the pages Template:Custom and Views are blank templates that help organize other templates.

  4. Name your content template and enter text (formatted notes, headers, text, etc.).
  5. Click Save.
  6. Navigate to your Template: directory and locate your newly created template.
  7. Click the pencil icon to edit the template's properties.
  8. Change the template Type to Content and click Update template properties.
  9. The template is now designated as a Content template.

Do not make changes to any of the templates in the /Template:MindTouch hierarchy. MindTouch templates are overwritten weekly and any changes made to templates in that hierarchy are unsupported and may break your site.

 Use a Content Template

  1. From a page in Edit mode, select Elements > Templates from the Editor toolbar.
  2. Select your desired template from the drop-down menu and click Insert template.
