This article explains why and how to create a detailed category, i.e. a category that displays a list of contained categories or guides without having to click into it.
Why would I choose a detailed category?
Maybe you considered creating a category as a simple category but then decided against it. Maybe because a detailed category fits your overall navigational design scheme better or testing revealed that your users prefer to be shown more information before deciding to click into a category. Whatever the reason, if you want to display a list of the guides that are contained in a category, choose the detailed category:
How to display details of your category
Follow these quick and easy steps to create your detailed category:
- Expand Page Settings.
- Select the Detailed radio button.
- In the Page Settings dialog, enter all other necessary information if you haven't already done so.
- Collapse the Page Settings dialog.
- Navigate one hierarchy back on the breadcrumb trail to view your simple category (in our case Home).
