Show or hide table of contents

The MindTouch table of contents (TOC) is an automatically generated list of all headings (H1, H2, H3, etc.) on individual How-To, Reference or Topic pages.

The TOC allows users to quickly skip down the page to a specific heading. The TOC also highlights the page structure by indenting nested headings.

Display TOC on a page

With default site configuration, the TOC container automatically appears on How-To, Reference or Topic pages. If it doesn't appear, you may need to remove individual on-page CSS or Custom Site CSS that was configured to hide it.

Remove TOC on a page

  1. Open the page on which you want to hide the TOC in Edit mode.
  2. In the editor toolbar, click Styles and select CSS from the drop-down menu.
  3. Add the following code to the CSS field:
    #mt-toc-container {
        display: none !important;
    }

To apply a style change for your entire site, make CSS changes in Site toolsControl panel > Custom Site CSS. You can also remove the heading numbering in the TOC or hide certain headings in the TOC
