The MindTouch video dialog allows authors to quickly insert and responsively display YouTube videos in a page. The rendered HTML5 video player utilizes YouTube's native embed code to provide a browser and plugin independent experience that can be viewed on any modern device. In addition to the YouTube player, authors can paste any third-party video provider's native embed codes directly into the video dialog, which allows for a smoother authoring experience.
Third-party embed codes render based on the settings used during its creation and may not be responsive.
Add a video to the page
- Open your page in Edit mode.
- On the editor toolbar, select the Video icon.
- In the YouTube tab, type the URL of your hosted video or enter a query to search for a YouTube video.
- Click Insert video.
- Resize the video by clicking it once and dragging the corners.
If searching and adding videos via YouTube, the HD version of the video will be embedded by default. If no HD version is available, the SD version will be embedded instead.
Supported video sources and types
Because MindTouch uses the native embed code for each video hosting service, supported video types and sources are determined by the video hosting provider.
If your site uses an SSL with a custom domain, you need to reference YouTube videos via HTTPS to ensure videos successfully render in your MindTouch page.
