Customize your blank page templates

This page applies to:MindTouch (current)

To adhere to MindTouch best practices and avoid structural errors, each page on your site should be created with an article type. But at times the MindTouch default page templates may not fit your needs or use case and the default blank page may not include elements you consistently want to include. For these cases MindTouch allows you to customize your blank page templates so that anytime your content creators use a blank page template, MindTouch imbeds the information you want to display.

MindTouch provides separate templates for pro members and community members to give you maximum flexibility in how to use the custom blank templates.

When to use a custom blank page

  • When the ProMember blank page template does not include elements you would like to display.
  • When the Community blank page template does not include elements you would like to display.

If you find yourself creating pages and then removing the DekiScript template code that designates the page as a specific article type (category, guide, etc.), consider creating a custom page template or a blank page template.

Customize your pro member blank page template

  1. Navigate to Site tools > Dashboard > Branding > Pro member blank page template
  2. Open the ProMember template in Edit mode.
  3. Add the information you want to include on the template.

To add CSS, DekiScript or JavaScript, add the respective code blocks

  1. Save the page.

Example

Below is an example of custom information (recently modified articles) added to the ProMember blank page template:

Lily M. 10/17/16:   I could not get this code to work as is. Something missing? It seems a bit different than the code in this article about viewing recently modified pages. I am also not sure whether the DekiScript would cause the same security concerns as the "site/feed" call ( we removed all documentation referencing that call).

Dekiscript for recently modified articles

To add the Recently Modified Articles section to your blank page, create a Dekiscript box in your Blank Page template and paste the following code:

var query = "tag:";
var pages = wiki.getSearch(query, 10, "-date"); < div class = "widget-tagged-articles" >
    < ul >
    foreach(var pg in pages) { < li >
            < a href = (pg.uri) > pg.title < /a> < span class = "date" >
            "( edited ";
        date.format(pg.date, "ddd MMM dd, yyyy");
        " )" < /span> < /li>
    } < /ul> < /div>

Customize your community member blank page template

By default, the blank page template for community members is a feedback form but can be changed:

  1. Navigate to Site Tools > Dashboard > Branding > Community member blank page template
  2. Open the Community template in Edit mode.
  3. Add the information you want to include on the template.

To add CSS, DekiScript or JavaScript, add the respective code blocks

  1. Save the page.
