MindTouch provides two methods for inserting an image in a page. You can simply drag and drop an image into the body of a page that is in Edit mode, or you can insert an image by using the Image button on the Insert bar in the editor.
Supported Image types
The only image files that MindTouch supports are the following:
NOTE: MindTouch does not support bitmap files (.bmp).
Insert an image
To insert an image using the Image icon, perform the following:
Navigate to and insert an image already in the repository
When you select the Image icon from the toolbar, you will be presented with a dialog box. Search and browse the site for images that are already uploaded to the repository and ready to be embedded.
Highlight the image you wish to use and click Insert Image.
Insert an external image
There are two methods to inserting an image not in the repository.
Use the drag and drop or copy and paste method
Select an image file and simply drag and drop or copy and paste the image where you would like it located in the body of the editor. While the image is uploading you'll see the following dialog:
Once the image has uploaded, you can resize the image by clicking the image once and moving the corners until the image reaches the size you desire.
Use the Image icon
To upload an image using the Image button, perform the following steps:
- On the editor tool bar, click on the Image button.
- In the Insert image dialog box, click the Attach files tab.
- Click Choose files.
- In the Open dialog box, navigate to and select the image that you wish to upload.
- Click Open.
- After the image uploads, select the image, change the image size and alignment, and add alternative text, if desired.
- Click Insert Image.
When choosing an image size, the pixel width is predetermined based on the option chosen in the above dialog box:

When attaching images to MindTouch, it is good to review how many of the images you'd like to reuse. If you are intending to reuse a lot of the images in different articles, it is recommended to set up a media repository that will serve as a central location for users to find images.
