Find and replace text on the page (MT4)

The find an replace tool is useful for searching for text within the MindTouch 4 editor. This tool is also usable in Source mode for finding and replacing HTML. Users can access the find and replace tools via keyboard shortcuts or via the editor toolbar.


Via keyboard shortcuts

To access the find and replace tool, create a New page or Edit an existing one. Click on the editor and use the keyboard shortcuts listed below:

Shortcut Description
Open the find text search bar.
Open the find text search bar and replace text input field.


Via the editor toolbar

Accessing the find and replace tool requires the user to create a New page or open an article in Edit mode. Once the editor is open, click the Find icon   to access the find input field. To simultaneously open the find AND replace input fields, click the Replace icon  .


Find text via the editor

Enter text into the search field and click Find (or press Enter) to search for the specified text. The results are highlighted.


Choose any of the following conditions to filter the search results: Case sensitiveWhole word only and Wrap search.

Condition Description
Case sensitive Search results are determined by letter case.
Whole word only Search results are determined by the search term as a whole.
Wrap search Determines whether the text search stops at the end of the document or returns to the beginning to search the document again.

Replace text via the editor

Any matches found by the find tool will be targeted for replacement. Input text into the replace field and click Replace to replace the text or click Replace all to replace every match found.

Find and replace text in source mode

The find and replace tool is useful for finding text or code in Source mode.

To view pages in source mode, click View Source. 

Click the Replace icon  to open the find and replace tool.
