MindTouch provides a native video player within the editor that allows authors to quickly get video content added to a page. This players uses YouTube's native embed code to render an HTML5 player for modern browsers, and a fallback Flash player for older ones.
The video embed functionality also allows authors to paste in third-party video provider's native embed codes to provide an easier authoring experience.
Third-party embed codes used in the MindTouch editor can not be resized. They will render based on the settings used when they were created.
How to add a video to a page
- To use the MindTouch video player, edit the page you wish to display the video.
- In the editor, select the Video icon.
- You can either search for a video using keywords or type in the URL of a YouTube video.
- Once you have chosen your video, click the Insert video button and you will see an image of your video displayed. You may resize the video by clicking it once, selecting one of the drag controls, and then resizing to the desired dimensions.
Only one video can be inserted at a time. The YouTube video will embed as HD by default if there is one available. If not, then it will fallback to SD.
To make sure your videos successfully render in your page, use HTTPS when referencing YouTube videos if your site uses an SSL with a custom domain.
Supported video sources and types
Because MindTouch uses the native embed code from third-party video providers, the video type and sources can not be controlled inside the editor.
