Use content IDs to call contextual help

This tip describes how to configure content IDs for contextual help Touchpoints embedded on external web pages or applications.
 

Why use content IDs with your contextual help Touchpoint?


Use content IDs if you embed a contextual help Touchpoint in an external web page or application. In case the MindTouch page linked to the Touchpoint is ever moved or renamed, you only have to change the content ID once to update all occurrences of the Touchpoint URL. 
 

Configure contextual help Touchpoints with content IDs


  1. Create and embed your contextual help Touchpoint.

Initially, configure your Touchpoint with a standard URL to make troubleshooting dependencies easier if needed.

  1. Verify your contextual help Touchpoint is working.
  2. Configure your content ID.
  3. Open the web page containing the Touchpoint in source mode.
  4.  Replace the contextual help link with the content ID location. The following is a sample link containing a content ID URL:
