Connect your users across all of your site properties by adding a search-in-place Touchpoint that allows them to browse your support documentation without leaving the context of the page they are on.
- Admin access to your site's control panel
- Touchpoints enabled on your site
- SSL (HTTPS) set up for your site
Create and configure your Touchpoint
- Login to your site and and click Site tools from the MindTouch toolbar.
- Select Control panel.
- Navigate to System Settings > Integrations > Web Widgets.
- Click the Search in place link to expand the configuration form.
Enter the appropriate information into the search-in-place Touchpoint configuration form fields:
|Field name||Field description|
|Name||Use this field to give your Touchpoint a unique name so it is easier to identify.|
|Host||This is the host name or domain where you embed your Touchpoint and allow it to be used. You may use comma separated host names and wildcards.|
|Path||The URL path inside your MindTouch site you want to be searched. You can start at the home page (default) or restrict your results to a particular hierarchy.|
|Input hint||This is the helper text that appears inside the search field. The default text is "Search."|
|Search query||Use this search term to auto populate your search-in-place results.|
|Height||Set the container height of your Touchpoint. You can use any type of CSS unit of measure you want (e.g. 100px, 200em, 50%), but we recommend using percentage or em to keep your display responsive. The default setting is 100%.|
|Width||Set the container width of your Touchpoint. You can use any type of CSS unit of measure you want (e.g. 100px, 200em, 50%), but we recommend using percentage or em to keep your display responsive. The default setting is 100%.|
|Include recommended search results||Each MindTouch site has the option of creating recommended search results. Check this box to have these types of results appear.|
|Allow search refinement filtering||Give your users a decision tree to help narrow down their search results. This component consists of a series of drop-down menus that represent your site's hierarchy structure.|
|Integration Environment Name||Use this field if you are incorporating a search-in-place Touchpoint into CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software such as Salesforce or Zendesk.|
- Click Add this widget.
- The Widget created dialog appears displaying your Touchpoint configuration.
