Can I remove the numbering in the table of contents?

The table of contents (TOC) is automatically generated on a MindTouch page and displays all page headings in a number list format.  This article outlines the steps on how to remove the number formatting from the TOC. 

The TOC is only displayed on how-to, reference or topic articles.


Remove the heading numbering

  1. Open the page on which you want to hide the TOC in Edit mode.
  2. In the editor toolbar, click Styles and select CSS from the drop-down menu. 

The blue CSS code block is only visible in Edit mode. 

  1. Add the following code to the CSS box:
#mt-toc-container li:before {
display: none;
  1. The TOC now looks like this:


To apply a style change for your entire site, make CSS changes in Site toolsControl panel > Custom Site CSS.
